Clouds, Seals, Architects, and Monsoons
The seal of the city shows Hindu god Indra riding in the clouds on Airavata, a divine white elephant knows in Thai as Erawan. Indra and Erawan both represent ideas of water and abundance
The seal is based on a painting done by Prince Naris. Prince Naris was the principal court designer from 1863-1947 and an incredible designer, architect, and composer.
Thailand has some serious cloud activity. The weather in Thailand is a tropical savanna climate and is under the influence of the South Asian Monsoon system. Bangkok has three seasons, hot, rainy, and cool. Average low is 71.6 in December to 95.7 in April. Wowzers and we thought we had it hot in Columbus!
Thailand has many cool animals that are native to Thailand. Take this amazing Clouded leopard for example. Clouded leopards are very secretive in the wild. They are amazing climbers that are able to climb down trees face first because of a rotating ankle joint. They also have the largest canines of the Big Cat family in proportion to their size. They may not be the nicest animal to meet in the wild but they sure are cute in photographs!
